About the Farm:
Established in the 1960s by Gustavo Hoyos and his family, “La Esperanza” farm rests on the serene “Alto de la Paz”—the Mountain of Peace. This 75-hectare paradise of fertile volcanic soil and gentle hills is a veteran in producing Colombia’s finest coffee.
The picturesque farm is bordered by the crystal-clear Campo Alegre River and shaded by towering Guadua bamboo, creating a natural symphony alongside the vibrant chatter of local wildlife. This environment not only fosters exceptional coffee but also supports a harmonious workplace for their dedicated team, whose well-being is as important to them as the quality of their coffee.
With decades of passion and three generations of expertise, they are proud to be certified by UTZ Khape and FLO-Cert, maintaining sustainable practices, and ensuring the traceability of their premium coffee.
About the Process:
Interested in how this coffee tastes the way it does? A unique honey process with mandarin peels takes coffee fermentation to a new level. After pulping the coffee cherries and leaving the natural mucilage intact, mandarin peels are introduced during the drying phase. As the beans dry under the sun, the aromatic oils from the mandarin peels infuse into the sticky mucilage, creating a harmonious blend of flavours. This technique adds a bright, citrusy twist to the natural sweetness of the honey process, resulting in a lively, zesty cup with hints of candied orange and a juicy mouthfeel.
